December 20, 1953 - June 19, 2025

Trevor Wesley Hillis was born on December 20, 1953, at Macklin, Sk., the second son of Harvey and Betty Hillis. At six months of age the family moved to a farm west of Bluffton, and added 4 more children to the family. From here he attended Bluffton until completing Grade 9 and then attended Rimbey High School, graduating in 1971. He made it his goal to know everyone in any school that he attended and he carried on with this his entire life, making sure to meet and remember as many people as possible.

Trevor also was part of the Bluffton 4-H Beef Club and held several executive offices. He was also on the 4-H County Council and this is where he met his future wife Sharon (nee Muncaster).

Trevor started working for neighbors from the age of 14 or driving gravel truck for his dad on sites that didn't require him to drive on public roads.

He left home at the age of 17 with his first job being as a laborer for MacBeth Construction and later as a buggy operator. On this job he made a lifetime friendship with Everett Linnen and his wife Joan. Later Everett and Trevor would start a business together, SJ Todd Construction, with Trevor being responsible for operating, servicing and repairing a Terex TS-14 Scraper (buggy).

Trevor worked many equipment jobs around the province, at Dease Lake, BC, and at one point driving water truck for seismic in the northwest territories.

On December 13, 1975, Trevor and Sharon were married with their first home being in Lacombe, and they would later move to Ponoka, then Bluffton and then west of Rimbey. While west of Rimbey their son Marc would be born. When Marc was six months old, they moved into Rimbey, and had a daughter, Clair. Trevor bought his own gravel truck at this time and operated as Hillis Trucking.

In 1985 the family moved to Coronation where he worked for Hughes Oilfield until he again went into business with a gravel truck, which was operated under MC Contracting. In 1994 they moved to west of Ponoka. Trevor continued with the gravel truck until his passing on June 19, 2025. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, after fighting a courageous five-year battle against cancer.

Trevor leaves to mourn his wife of 49 years, Sharon; his son Marc (Skye) and his two boys, Sean and Liam; his daughter, Clair (Brian) Downs and their two children Iain and Colin Downs; his mother, Betty Hillis, brothers Bruce (Bev), Grant (Lori), and sisters Arlene (Lauriston) Baker, and Karen (Kevin) Hillis, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Trevor was pre-deceased by an infant sister, Sherry, and his father Harvey Hillis, sister-in-law Jeanne Hillis and nephew Greg Hillis, parents-in-law Cecil and Alverda Muncaster and brother-in-law Bill Muncaster

The family wishes to thank Adriana, Robyn and the LPN staff with Ponoka Home Care and Dr. Halse for the kindness, support and caring shown to Trevor.

A Celebration of Trevor's life will be held at Wilson's Funeral Chapel in Rimbey on Sunday, July 6 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Iola Fairview Cemetery.
