BOYARZIN

Mr. Vernon “Vern” E. Boyarzin of Bluffton, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Red Deer on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at the age of 69 years.

Vern was born at home in the Lavesta area to Bill and Gunda Boyarzin on February 11, 1939. After his father’s passing in 1970, Vern ran the family farm, but in addition, he was the neighbourhood handyman. Over the years, he successfully wired and plumbed many houses in the area and was often called upon to repair furnaces when the temperature dropped. In fact, it was a broken washing machine that led him to get better acquainted with his future wife. Vern and Jan were married on December 4, 1982, and celebrated their 25th Anniversary last year. Vern loved music and was a terrific dancer. His hobbies included golfing and woodworking and he completed many home renovations, additions and other projects. When he wasn’t haying, harvesting, or working with cattle, he was also an active member of his church and his community. Vern enjoyed road trips, so he and Jan spent a part of every summer visiting various cousins and exploring the backroads of the western provinces. In April of 2007, Vern was diagnosed with amyloidosis, a rare disease which affected his kidneys. He courageously endured many hospitalizations and complex treatments until his passing.

“Vern truly loved people and he was loved by many.

He will be dearly missed by friends and family.”

Vern will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his beloved wife, Jan; his brother, Art (Marlene) Boyarzin of Edmonton; and two sisters, Wilma (Larry) Bartman of Calgary; and Bev Chabidon of Red Deer. He will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his mother-in-law, Helen Webster of Calgary; and his sister-in-law, Elaine (Ron) Jones of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Vern was predeceased by his father, his mother, and his sister, Leona.

A Public Funeral Service in Celebration of Vern’s Life was held at the Zion Lutheran Church, Rimbey on Monday, June 16, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. with the Reverend Allen Lewis officiating. Cremation followed at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer.
