OSOKIN

Mr. Victor Osokin of the Homeglen District passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey on Friday, March 18, 2011 at the age of 92 years. Victor was born in Russia in 1918, and lived his entire adult life in the Homeglen District, except for time spent in the Canadian Air Force during World War II. He was united in marriage to Joan Winnifred Burns in December of 1941. Victor enjoyed the freedom and challenges of the farming life, and was often the 'go to' mechanic in the 'Glen'.


Victor will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his son, Richard (Fran) Osokin of Homeglen; two daughters, Margaret Leladhar Singh of Edmonton; and Joanne (Brent) Thirsk of Ponoka; as well as eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Victor was predeceased by his wife, Joan in May of 2005; his eldest son, Robert in January of 2003; and his daughter-in-law, Brenda in November of 2002.


A Public Funeral Service in Celebration of Victor's Life was held at the Rimbey United Church, Rimbey on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Jeffery Challoner officiating. Interment preceded the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. in the Hoadley Cemetery, Hoadley.
