With sadness we announce that Walter Arthur Kowalzik of Rimbey, Alberta passed away quietly at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre – Long Term Care on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the age of 91 years.
Walter leaves behind his three children Murray (Hazel) Kowalzik, Karen (Larry) Wolansky, and Doug Kowalzik; as well as five grandchildren Shannon (Byron) Fraser, Landon (Bree) Kowalzik, Shieghla (Meg) Kowalzik, Erin (Jeff) Fuson, and Brad (Sarah) Wolansky; and eight great-grandchildren Braiden, Tessa, Leeland, Nathanial, Izabella, Zoey, Ali, and Leo. He also leaves behind Dorothy’s children and grandchildren; a special family that played an important role in Walter’s life, sharing many stories and laughs. Walter is also survived by several nieces and nephews; other family members; and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents John and Julia; his first wife Velma; his second wife Dorothy; his brother Johnnie; sister Lillian; in addition to numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law.
A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Walter’s Life will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church, Rimbey on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Schultz officiating.Walter will be laid to rest in the West Haven Cemetery, Rimbey at a later date.
