Wesley "Wes" W. French of Bluffton, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the age of 79 years.

Wes was born the eldest of five children to Hazel and Wilbert French in Nipawin, Saskatchewan on February 19, 1935. He attended school in Nipawin, and then the family moved to White Fox, Saskatchewan where Wes was later married and had four children: Cal, Wendy, Kelly, and Marcia. Wes worked with his dad at Hansen Farm Service, and they later moved to the farm north of Love, Saskatchewan where he farmed with his dad and brother, Gary, as well as drove school bus for many years. In 1981, Wes moved to Calgary where he drove water and service trucks for Kidko Construction. It was during this time that he met and was united in marriage to Isabel Fowler. In 2001, Wes retired and they relocated to the Rimbey area, and a couple of years later they settled in Bluffton.

Wes will forever be remembered by his beloved wife, Isabel; his son, Cal (Helen) French of Fort Saskatchewan; three daughters, Wendy French (Ken Galbraith) of Oakville, Manitoba; Kelly (Stephen) Harrison of Fort St. John, B.C.; and Marcia (Ken) Sawchuk of Pilot Butte, Saskatchewan; and four stepsons, Cliff (Ingrid) Fowler of Venezuela; Gordon Fowler of Bluffton; Jim Fowler of Sylvan Lake; and Harold (Jody) Fowler of Grande Prairie; and as well as 29 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. He will also be forever remembered by his brother, Gary (Marilyn) French of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and three sisters, Marlene (Ed) Dixon of Love, Saskatchewan; Gwen Tatlow of Strathmore; and Shirley McGonigle of Nipawin, Saskatchewan; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Wes was predeceased by his parents, Hazel and Wilbert French; his grandson, Bradley in 1978; and two brothers-in-law, Alvin Tatlow and Don McGonigle.

A Public Memorial Service in Honour of Wes' Life was held at the Bluffton Community Hall, Bluffton on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Deborah Laing officiating. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer. Interment will follow at a later date in the White Fox Cemetery, White Fox, Saskatchewan.
