William “Bill” Matson of Iola, Alberta passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey on Friday, August 19, 2016 at the age of 95 years.
Bill will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his four sons: Arnold (Marlene) Matson of Bluffton and their family: Marla Wheale (Matt), and Steven Matson (Shawna); Jim (Desiree) Matson of Bluffton and their family: Marina, James, and Lane; Lyle (Tammy) Matson of Bluffton and their family: Jeffrey, and Jared; and John (Debbie) Matson of Bluffton and their family: Ashley, Stephanie, and Ryan; and his three daughters: Anna (Gene) Whitehead of Kenaston, Saskatchewan and their family: Bradley (Courtney), and Andrea Challand (Chris); Brenda (Hank) Portiek of Bluffton and their family: Gary (Krishanda), Frances Beagle (Cole), and Hank (Jessica); and Hazel (Cam) Coxson of Kelowna, B.C. and their family: Kyle, and Katelyn; as well as twelve precious great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife, Frances in 2009, his infant daughter, four brothers, and three sisters.

Matson homestead in the Iola District.
His memory will live on in the hearts of his
loving family and many cherished friends.”
A Public Funeral Service in Celebration of Bill’s Life was held at the Hoadley Evangelical Missionary Church, Hoadley on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Barry Klassen officiating. A Private Family Interment Service took place in the Iola Fairview Cemetery, Bluffton at 12:00 p.m. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Bill’s Memory may be made directly to the Hoadley Evangelical Missionary Church Expansion Fund, Box 1, Site 7, R.R. 2, Bluffton, Alberta T0C 0M0; or to the charity of one’s choice.
