HARRIS

William 'Brent' Harris passed away on March 9th, 2013 at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, at the age of 44 years, after a 14 year battle with M.S.

Brent attended schools in Bluffton and Rimbey, then worked in the oil field for many years in the Ponoka -Rimbey area, as well as in Fort St. John, B.C. Wherever Brent lived, he enjoyed the outdoors, and loved to fish, hunt and ski. It was when he was up north, that the symptoms of M.S. first developed and eventually he had to enter residency in the North Peace Care Centre. In January, 2011, Brent came back to his home in Bluffton with the hope of realizing a more independent lifestyle closer to his family. Ten months later, illness sent him into the Rimbey Hospital. Throughout his care, Brent gained many new and wonderful friends among the staff working with him. They marvelled at his humility and compassion for others, while minimizing his own discomforts.

Brent is survived by his son Brad (Natasha) Harris and grandson Kason of Lloydminster, SK; his daughter Jessie (Tanner) Sayer and grandson Clay of Marwayne, AB; his step-daughter Jordan (Trent) Rempel and step-grandchildren Aiden and Alexis of Ft. St. John, B.C. He will also be sadly missed by his sister Ellen (Donivan) McCoy and niece Skylar of Marwayne, AB; his mother, Janice Harris of Bluffton; his father, Grant Harris, of the Bluffton area; as well as numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, and many wonderful friends and neighbors.

In respect for Brent's wishes, there will be no public funeral service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Brent's memory may be made directly to the MS Society of Canada or to the charity of one's choice.
