Missing apples found, friendships are created

I posted a letter a few weeks back regarding the disappearance of the apples off my tree.

Dear Editor,

I posted a letter a few weeks back regarding the disappearance of the apples off my tree. In lieu of the overwhelming response I received from the community, I feel compelled to write a follow-up letter.

To everyone who came to me asking if I found out who ‘took’ them…yes, I did.

The lady in question was led to believe, by someone other than me, that they were ‘up for grabs’ not realizing that the apples were that precious to me. She saw the letter in the paper and came to visit me, in tears, and was most apologetic for her actions. I was just so relieved to find out the real story and, turns out, she and I are on wonderful terms now.

Not so much for the someone other than me, who did get a piece of my mind for assuming apples in my back yard would ‘just go to waste anyway’.

In the end, new understandings were formed, a new friendship was made and I have been blessed – once again – in realizing what an outstanding community I have been proud to call home for fifty –one years! Problems, big or small, do bring people together!

Thank you to everyone who visited or called, for your concern, your support and your gifts of apples!

Not so dis-appled, or so disappointed anymore,
