Bentley athletes dominate sports scene

Fourteen grades 10 to 12 athletes from Bentley School competed in track and field zones on May 22 in Stettler.

High school zones champions

Fourteen grades 10 to 12 athletes from Bentley School competed in track and field zones on May 22 in Stettler and came away winning the 1A Zones Championship with 128 points. Second place had 72 points.

Seven students qualified for provincials in Calgary June 7 and 8.

Grade 9 track meet

Eleven Grade 9 students from Bentley School went into Red Deer and came home with the small school championship by accumulating 64 points as a team. Second place finished with 23 points.

Rachel Hyink finished second overall in girls’ aggregate. The Grade 9 girls team finished third overall behind Lindsay Thurber and Hunting Hills.

Wolf Creek Track Meet

Grade 7 to 9 students from Bentley School went to Ponoka to compete in the Wolf Creek Track and Field Championship June 4. They came home with the banner for the fourth year in a row winning by only four points.

Kaitlin Swartz finished first overall for grade 7 girls’ aggregate. Dylan MacKenzie finished second overall for Grade 7 boys aggregate. Rachel Hyink finished first overall in Grade 9 Girls Aggregate, setting a new record in high jump of 1.55 metres beating the 1982 record of 1.52 meters. Victoris Pacholko finished second overall for Grade 9 girls.
