Bentley curling club sets fees and dates

Despite a poor turnout at the Bentley Curling Club’s annual fall general meeting the executive is excited about the up and coming curling season.

Curling is scheduled to start on Monday, October 28.

It was left undetermined at the meeting whether to have club champions based on the final points earned throughout the season or whether to use those points to seed teams in an actual playoff to determine the club league champs. There seemed to be a split on which format to use so each league night will be asked to vote on the issue at their first game and from there the executive will make the final decision.

Regular adult league fees were increased by about $25 to $185 for once a week, $235 for twice a week and $285 for three times per week.

Senior Day time rates were increased by $10 to $130 for once per week, $170 for twice per week and $210 for three times.

Juniors after school / evening curling fee is $50.

Fees are due the first night of curling.

Bonspiel dates are set with the Farmer’s ‘Spiel in late November, seniors in mid January, men’s and ladies in February, and the closing mixed during the third week of March.

The local school is again being invited to use the club facility.

The treasurer reported that financially the club is stable. The club needs to continue with major raffles and casinos on alternate years. Casino dates for this season are March 28 and 29, 2014 so volunteers to work it are needed.

The executive is president Kyle Brink, vice president Krista Turner, secretary Bonnie Muzylouski, treasurer Jenna French, and directors Norm Rieu, Dave Neufeld, Gerald Peterson, Art Dykstra and Ralph Scarlett.

The senior’s representative is Cliff Knutson.

New lounge attendant is Ron Arthur, and returning ice technician / lobby caretaker remains Brian Sautner.

Prospective curlers are always welcome.
