Bentley Panthers pounce ahead

The Bentley Panthers track team showed they were a force to be reckoned with at the Wolf Creek Track and Field Championship held June 5.

The Bentley Panthers track team showed they were a force to be reckoned with at the Wolf Creek Track and Field Championship held June 5 in Ponoka.

The team won the championship for the third consecutive year, forging well ahead of Clive by 59 points.

Kai Poffenroth finished third in aggregate points for Grade 9 boys and Rachel Hyink was the aggregate champion for Grade 8 girls, beating teammate Victoria Pacholko by two points.

Pacholko, who finished second, set a record in shot put throwing 8.85 metres, which was more than 30 centimetres longer than the previous record.

Makayla Chapman finished in second place for Grade 9 girls in aggregate points.

“It was an excellent job by all he track athletes. Your school and community are very proud of you,” said Stephen Lush, vice-principal and athletic director for Bentley School.
