Central Alberta Raceways in Rimbey, Alta. is revving up for another weekend of racing.

“I think we are going to have a great weekend,” says Oval Track Director, Sherry Taylor. “It is going to be fun.”

The July 24-26 race weekend is quickly selling out with weather looking promising for a sunny weekend at the track. The track is still limited to 200 spectators, and amidst rising COVID-19 numbers in the province and in conjunction with AHS mandates, fans are asked to social distance at the events.

Hand washing and hand sanitization stations will be available throughout the raceway.

Oval track events start Friday night at 7 p.m. and again on Saturday at 6 p.m. On the oval track this weekend there will be Alberta Extreme Sprints (Sportsman sprint cars), IMCA Mods, A-1 Autobody Outlaw Legends, ADSSTS, and Hobby Stocks.

On the drag strip this weekend there is about 11 Pro-mod racers (2,500-3,500 horsepower), 18 X275 radio cars/ street legal cars racing (1,500 horsepower) and regular bracket cars.

Taylor says Central Alberta Raceways wants to give a big thank you to the community and volunteers that have helped make the Raceways’ reopening and race season achievable this year.
