Dynamites win provincial bronze

.

TREENA MIELKE/Rimbey Review

The Rimbey Dynamite mites might be small in stature, but they are mighty in heart, soul and hustle.

The girls’ baseball team swept through the season with 12 wins and one loss, and headed off to provincials in Sherwood Park which were held July 8 to 10. Once again the team did well, defeating teams from Red Deer and Calahoo.

However, the provincials were drowned out before the final game could be played, so the team was forced to wait until the next weekend to finish the games.

The next weekend the Dynamites didn’t fare so well, losing out to a Calgary team twice. They defeated Sedgwick 20-18 for the bronze medal.

“They did very well. They came up from behind to win the game,” coach Chris Weis said.

Weiss said the team had an unbelievable year.

“It has been very rewarding coaching them. They learn so much. They are like little sponges and pick everything up.”

He said all but three of the players will move up a level to squirts next year
