Rimbey FCSS is ready to hit the links to help raise funds for charity.

Family and Community Support Services is sponsoring its first annual charity golf tournament as a fundraiser for the Rimbey Food Bank.

“We manage the food bank and it is one of our programs that local people are most familiar with,” said Lindell Ryan, volunteer centre manager.

The food bank is located in the Church of the Nazarene and serves the community by helping out those in need with food hampers which may be picked up on Wednesdays. Those in need of the food bank may phone the FCSS office at 403-843-2030.

Food donations may be dropped off at Rimbey Foods or Rimbey Co-op.

The golf tournament is to be held at the Spruce Haven Golf Resort in Bluffton on Aug. 11 and promises to be a full day of fun and entertainment.

The day begins with a breakfast and registration at 7:30 a.m. The Texas scramble tourney begins at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.

The 18-hole tournament will be followed by a barbecue supper and extra tickets are available.

“It’s starting to fill up, but we still have spots available,” said Ryan.

The event also includes entertainment, prizes, contests and a loonie auction. The Rimbey Kinsmen is sponsoring the cash bar and Front Line Compression Services is the title sponsor.
