It’s been another banner season for Rimbey’s Camille Trautman, as for the second consecutive year, she has been named the winner of the Most Valuable Goaltender Award in the Alberta Midget AAA Female Hockey League.

Trautman, who plays for the Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs AAA Midget hockey team, recorded the league’s best save-percentage at .937 and the second best goals against average by allowing just 1.6 goals per game.

For her efforts, Trautman was presented with a bronze trophy and a Nixon sports watch. She appeared in 43 games this season for the Chiefs.

“It’s good to be recognized like that, especially when our team didn’t go very far in the playoffs,” said the 17-year-old Grade 11 student whose team lost in the second round of playoffs to the Highwood Raiders.

While she still has one more year of eligibility as a midget player, Trautman has already been pondering her future between the pipes, including pursuing a scholarship south of the border.

“That would be nice,” she said. “I’ve thought about getting a scholarship to play Division 1 in the United States and I’ve talked to a couple of schools. We’ll see if that happens or not.”

Over the course of this past season Trautman backstopped Team Alberta to a fifth-place at the U-18 Canadian championships held in Surrey, B.C. in November and was selected to represent the South Division in her league’s all-star game for the third year in a row. That game was held in Lloydminster in January.

In April, Trautman will attend a training and selection camp in Carstairs in preparation of representing the province at the Canada Winter Games in 2011.
