On Feb. 19 members of the community can enjoy watching locals take to the ice in the second annual Parkland Beach Classic Hockey Tournament.

Taking place at Gull Lake, the tournament will have six teams made up of communities around Parkland Beach.

Co-Owner of Triangle Construction, Scott Rattray, said last year’s tournament went over really well.

“It was a great turnout, everyone had a good time, so we thought we’d make it an annual thing,” he said.

Last year’s event saw anywhere between 75 and 150 people come out.

Rattray puts the tournament on with his business partner and other Co-Owner of Triangle Construction Deven Chrenek.

They will have two warming tents for people, along with outhouses and hot dogs and hamburgers for people to purchase from Jorgy’s Hot Spot.

Teams playing in the tournament include three from the summer village of Parkland Beach and others near by, along with a group of farmers from Gull Lake that also put in a team.

“Everyone’s from really close to the village of Parkland Beach,” said Rattray.

“It’s just an all around great event for the community.”

Rattray and Chrenek also host a mixed softball tournament at Parkland Beach every summer.
