Gull Lake Golf Course set to welcome six returning professionals

The floggers, the duffers and even the pin seekers will be in their glory this Saturday and Sunday at Gull Lake Golf Course for the fourth annual Pro-Am and Skins Game featuring six professionals who are making a return visit to the course.

Among the pros is Kris Tschetter who grew up in North Dakota and currently resides in Virginia. She was the winner of the 1983 American Junior Golf Association’s Tournament of Champions and is also a four-time winner of the South Dakota Women’s Amateur Championship. Currently Tschetter remains on the LPGA Tour and played in the most-recent US Open and will also be hitting the links for the upcoming British Open.

Sam Randolph was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California where he was taught golf by his father, who was the local club pro for 38 years. Currently residing in Fort Worth, Tex., Randolph won the 1981 California State High School Championships as well as the Junior World Championships. He is currently playing in the Nationwide Tour where he has played since 1993.

Stuart Hendley was born and raised in Houston, Tex. And now resides in nearby Midland, Tex. After living in central Alberta for 16 years. At the age of 17 Hendley was ranked as the number one junior golfer in the US by Golf Digest and is also a former Junior World Champion. Currently he keeps busy playing a bit of competitive golf and speaks at corporate outings and charity events in addition to teaching a number of top juniors, amateurs and touring professionals.

Perry Parker was born and raised in southern California where he attended the University of California at Irvine and made the All-conference Team in 1985 and 86. He began his professional career as the assistant coach of his alma mater and since, has recorded more than 30 professional wins worldwide including five Canadian Tour victories. Currently, Parker plays some competitive golf while also teaching and coaching as well as running the National Hemophilia Foundation Jr. Championships in the US.

A former member of the Gull Lake course’s junior program where he played for three years, Brandon Regnier began golfing at the age of 15 and was employed at the Wolf Creek Golf Resort in Ponoka in 2003. After five years there, he recently transferred to the Derrick Golf and Winter Club as an assistant professional. Over the past three years he has competed on the PGA of Alberta Assistants Tour as well as playing on the Gateway Professional Golf Tour in Arizona in the winters.

Laura Witvoet has been a champion golfer since 1988 and was the first Albertan to ever play on the LPGA Tour. Currently Witvoet heads the Wolf Creek Academy of golf where she conducts golf clinics and provides both private and group lessons.

The intent of the Pro-Am and Skins Game and a silent auction of items is to fund the golf course’s scholarship program to assist junior members in pursuing a higher education or training.
