Lacombe foursome captures championship of 2008 Bentley Farmer’s Bonspiel

Eighteen teams competed in the 2008 Bentley Farmer’s Bonspiel that ran Nov. 25 through 29. The undefeated champs were Lionel Baron, Dwayne Baron, Doug Grinder, and Bill Baron from Ponoka who defeated the Gord Graves foursome from Lacombe in the first event final.

Second event winners were Grant Kamps, Kelly McCullough, Kevin Bos, and Rainer Huebl from Lacombe who defeated the Bob Pecharsky Rimbey team in the final.

Cliff Carson with Todd Marshall, Craig Shaw, and Lonnie Sulzle from Lacombe beat the Jeff Kamlah bunch from Lincoln to capture the third event.

Winner of the “Skins Consolation Event” was the Cecil Galloway team skipped by Ralph Scarlett with Bob Forsyth, Jim Dixon, and Willard Morris. They defeated the local Bentley team of Merlyn Wilson.

There was free coffee and candy during the week and food upstairs some nights and lots of door prizes courtesy many generous sponsors.

After curlers and guests enjoyed a catered banquet Saturday night in the curling rink lounge, the winners got to “pick-a-prize”.
