Two Rimbey boxers, Riley Caruthers and Daniel Peacock attended the Boxing in the Valley tournament held in Drayton Valley on April 4.

Fighting in his first boxing match, Caruthers went in the ring with a game plan to work on his hooks and right hand body shots. And while the boxers were very-well matched giving him a chance to put his training to the test, Caruthers fought hard throughout the entire three rounds but in the last five seconds, his opponent Cody Robinson of Drayton Valley delivered a four-punch combination resulting in a split decision and a loss for Caruthers who was fighting in the 42 kg. category.

On the same card, Rimbey’s Daniel Peacock faced Adam Gladye of Edmonton in the 60 kg. category. By staying very busy in the first round and throwing numerous combinations throughout, Peacock forced two standing eight-counts on Gladye early in the second resulting in the referee stopping the fight leaving Peacock as the winner on points and upping his record to 4 wins and no defeats.
