TREENA MIELKE/Rimbey Review

A rugby camp for youngsters aged 11 to 15 is coming in Rimbey in July.

Aly Bowd, youth development officer from the Red Deer Titans Rugby Club, will come to Rimbey every Wednesday to coach the youngsters. Practices will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the school rugby field.

Games will be held Saturdays in Red Deer at the Titan Rugby Club field.

Bowd said separate teams for U11, U13 and U15 could be formed depending on the interest. Coaches from the high school may help out, of there are enough players.

She said the Red Deer Titans want to expand their youth rugby teams in the rural areas and there seems to be good interest in Rimbey.

“This is a trial and we will see what the interest is. There was lots of enthusiasm there in the fall.”

A coach from the Titans will also go to Rocky Mountain House to teach rugby and a coach may go into Olds as well.

Bowd will be at the field at 5 p.m. the first Wednesday of practice so the players can register.
