Rimbey will be well represented at the Alberta 55 Plus Winter Games this year to be held in Lethbridge Feb. 19 to 22.

Lorraine Jarl, Bernie Wolkowski, Barb Patey and Monty Haslam will compete in bowling in over 70 age group.

Al Elliott will compete in Alpine skiing in the over 70 age group.

And Brenda Restall and Fern Borgel from Stettler will try their hand at euchre in an open competition.

Restall said she is pleased that Rimbey is so well represented.

“I think it’s wonderful,” she said. “Of course we all want to win gold.”

Rimbey is in zone 4 and area three for the Games.

Zones were held in February.

Participants from eight zones across Alberta will compete in 14 events such as curling, hockey, darts, bowling and soccer.

The ATCO Gas All-Ages Torch Relay will be held on Feb. 18 and the ATCO Gas Opening Ceremonies happen on Feb. 19. The closing ceremonies will be held on Feb. 22. All events are open to the public.

The all-ages torch relay will feature multi-generational families and groups that encompass the theme, Warm Your Heart.
