Bluffton West 4-H Beef Club News

BEN TRENSON

Our club is staying busy and having fun. Setting up for the Women’s Conference on February 9 at the Community Center went very quickly because of all the help from our 4-H members. On February 27 six members of our club went to Alder Flats to zones public speaking. Here are the results for our club:

Junior: 1. Leah Trenson 2.Sylvia Trautman

Intermediate: 1. Clinton Steeves 2.Ben Trenson

Senior: 2. Michelle VonGunten

Winter camp was held on March 4-6. The three members that went had a blast. We made ice-cream, went sledding and much more. March 6 we had our farm tour. This year for our farm tour we held a virtual tour instead of driving to all the farms. This way we saw all the farms in a short time. We judged heifers and apples and did a mad parts quiz on a live bull.

District public speaking was held on March 13 at the Crestomere School. Here are the results for our club:

Junior: 1. Leah Trenson 2.Sylvia Trautman

Intermediate: 1. Clinton Steeves

The goat cheese farm tour east of Crestomere on Bos Farm was awesome! We tasted some delicious cheese and goat’s milk and had tour of the factory and the goat barn. We saw baby goats being born while we were there. No kidding!!

On April 8 we held a Slave Auction and lasagna supper to raise money for our exchange to Nova Scotia. The lasagna was delicious. Thank you to all the buyers of the slaves. We appreciate your generous support!

Our Mini Show was held on April 10. We did judging, had a grooming demonstration, and led our calves around. We saw some super calves there.

If your freezer has space keep us in mind for some terrific beef. Our show and sale is May 15-16 at the Rimbey Agriplex. The sale is on Monday May 16 at 7:00. We hope to see you there.
