Rimbey Church of the Epiphany Centennial celebrations continue

2008 is a special, activity-packed year as Rimbey’s Anglican Church of the Epiphany congregation celebrates the centennial of the parish in this community.

2008 is a special, activity-packed year as Rimbey’s Anglican Church of the Epiphany congregation celebrates the centennial of the parish in this community. Festivities began in early December when members of the church and community participated in Rimbey’s first-ever live Nativity in Pas-Ka-Poo Park. The second special event for the congregation was a Lenten mission in early February with the Reverend. Rick Chapman, Pastor of the Inner City Pastoral Ministry in Edmonton, Alberta, and his wife.

The ‘main event’ for the Anglican people is a reunion weekend on June 6 - 8, featuring a Friday musical jam session, a Saturday afternoon tea and get-acquainted time and an evening banquet, and on Sunday, a confirmation service with Bishop Derek Hoskin, of the Diocese of Calgary.

In preparation for the Saturday night celebration, organizers of the centennial reunion are once again reaching out to the community for assistance and participation. The Rimbey Community Chorus, well known for its musical offerings at Christmas, and at special occasions in Rimbey, under the leadership of Mrs. Annette Boorman, has been invited to perform a brief musical program.

Anyone who has ever sung with this chorus, (or who would like to join them for the first time for the Church of the Epiphany centennial event), is invited to attend rehearsals at the United Church on Wednesday evenings beginning April 16 from 8:45 – 9:45 p.m. For more information, questions may be directed to Connie Jensen at 780-682-2368.
