What better way to get into the holiday spirit than a friendly, festive holiday window wars?

For the first time this year, Owner of Blooms flower shop Tammy Holmes and employee Jamie Coston took part in a friendly window decorating competition, decorating the store’s two windows with lots of holiday cheer.

And it’s not just about decorating. They are doing it all for a good cause.

“It’s two dollars a vote or a food item, and then all of the cash donations and food donations will go to the food bank,” said Holmes.

This is the ladies’ first time doing a Christmas competition, but they did a competition around Halloween, taking part in a pumpkin Halloween war of who made the best centrepiece, which was done strictly on votes.

This year, once voting has taken place, names go back into a pot and one winner is picked at random to win an outdoor gift planter.

“That’s my thank you to the community for three years of support. There’s gift certificates from about half a dozen businesses in town, and it helps out not just us but other people too.”

Holmes said the community can vote until Dec. 14. The draw and donations donated will take place Dec. 15.
