Rimbey is the top 10 finalists for Big Valley Jamboree’s Small Town Saturday Night.

Voting finished on Feb. 15 and it is now official.

Rimbey is fourth in the running behind LaGlace, Peace River and Innisfail.

Also in the running are Viking, Rocky Mountain House, Ashmont, Drayton Valley, Duchess, and Crowsnest Pass.

It is an exciting time for Rimbey as film crews will descend on the town of Friday to meet with Annette Peck from Big Brothers and Big Sisters and Corey Glenn from the Ag Society.

On March 13, Rimbey voters will once again have an opportunity to throw their support behind the town, with the second round of online voting continuing until March 27.

The winner will be announced on March 28 and on April 29 the winner will host a concert featuring popular country music star Gord Bamford from Lacombe.

Proceeds from the concert will go towards Big Brothers, Big Sisters and the Ag Society.

More than 30 communities participated in the Small Town Saturday Night contest and more than 100,000 ballots were cast.

In the past funding from Small Town Saturday night helped communities like Slave Lake raise $93,000 to build a new playground, and $67,000 was raised for the town of Bashaw School Arts Infusion Program.
