In the last week, Rimbey RCMP responded to 41 calls for service. These calls include but are not limited to: six suspicious vehicle or person reports; five break and enter files; four reports of assault; and one complaint of mischief.

On the afternoon of November 29, Rimbey RCMP received a panicked call reporting a missing child. The child presumably wandered away from their babysitter. RCMP embarked on a search and thankfully, an officer located the child and confirmed their safety and was able to reunite them with a very thankful parent.

Also on November 29, RCMP responded to a domestic dispute call at a rural residence outside of Rimbey. The suspect was barricaded inside the residence and officers had reason to suspect he had weapons in his possession. With assistance from Rocky Mountain House RCMP and Ponoka RCMP, police were able to surround the home and arrest the suspect when he emerged. Thankfully no one was injured and the arrest was carried out without incident. The suspect has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm, one count of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of uttering threats, two counts of forcible confinement, and two counts of intimidation. He was to appear in Red Deer Court on December 6, 2018.

Rimbey Victim Services would like to extend a huge thank you to the citizens of Rimbey for their generous contributions to the first annual Charity Checkstop held on November 28th in partnership with the Rimbey RCMP and Ponoka County West District Fire Department. In total, the event raised $3,000 and over 120 lbs of food and toys, all to be donated to the Rimbey Food Bank. Rimbey Victim Services is incredibly grateful that they are able to contribute to valuable community resources and programs, all made possible because of fundraising events such as this. They are so proud to call this event a success and look forward to many more successful years to come
