Duane Adams, a stain glass artist in Rimbey, has his work on display at Power Zone Athletics. As the landlord and owner of the building, he thought it would be a nice touch to add in a stain glass between the gym and the physiotherapy office.

The opening where he put the glass used to be a restaurant, which had a pass through area between the kitchen and the dining area. It is now filled with his vibrant piece, of a lion lifting weights in a forest setting.

“In order to just close up that hole, seeing as I did stain glass, I thought I would do a piece that would fit in there, and then it was just a matter of trying to figure out what kind of a piece to do,” said Adams.

He hasn’t been doing artwork for too long, but did a course a few years ago in Rimbey, picking up art some more once he retired in about 2017.

“When we built our house we actually designed it with the idea of putting in some stain glass in the transoms above the doors inside the house.”

Adams also has a part of his garage set up for doing stain glass work, and has quite a stock of glass for various projects. He also does a bit of teaching to those who want to learn.

“It’s nice to have other people doing it too so you can kind of work back and forth between each other,” he said.

Adams then donates his work to various fundraisers, along with some of his friends.
