In keeping with police and peace officers national memorial day the town of Rimbey flew its flags at half mast on Sept. 27.

On the last Sunday in September, police and peace officers national memorial day, flags on the Legislature Building, McDougla Centre and all Provincial court houses and correctional institutions are lowered to half-mast from sunrise to sunset in honour of fallen Canadian police and peace officers.

Acting CAO Donna Tona said Sept. 27 is a day which has been set aside provincially to honor peace officers and RCMP in such a way.

It is out of respect for our relationships with the RCMP and our peace officers,” she said. “It is the right thing to do and it is important we honour them in such a way.”

Peace officers in Rimbey are Sgt. Kyle Koller and resident community peace officer Jay Klause.
