HAMEL

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Eldean "Deanie" Edna Hamel at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre, Long Term Care on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the age of 80 years.

Deanie was born on June 13, 1936 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She loved life and all this world had to offer. Deanie had a great curiosity and was always interested in everything going on around her; from plants, animals, birds, and even bugs … to all the happenings in the family, community, and the country. She loved the land, and was happy on their farm in Rimbey, living in nature. Deanie loved to travel and learn about different cultures, landscapes, and the people who lived in them. Most of all she loved people. Deanie always wanted to know everyone's story, and she formed many life-long friendships. She loved the stories, and she knew there was a story in every person. Her warm and loving personality always brought those stories out, and everyone she came into contact with loved her.

Our family would like to thank all the caregivers who took such special care of our beloved Deanie. You cared for her with love and tenderness through all the years of her illness. All the staff at the Parkland Manor in Rimbey, and the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, as well as everyone at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre. The doctors, friends, and many homecare workers, and oxygen suppliers, in addition to so many more people who came into her life and helped her in her journey ... she formed many deep friendships with you, and loved and appreciated each and every one of you. We will be forever grateful.

Deanie will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her loving granddaughter, Juliette Bouvier of Rockglen, Saskatchewan; and her cherished siblings: three brothers, Ed Frith of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan; Pat (Connie) Frith of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and Russ (Joanne) Frith also of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and two sisters, Silver Frith (Carol Putnam) of Halifax, Nova Scotia; and Kathy (Mike) Dvorak of Spruce Home, Saskatchewan; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her sisters-in-law, Alice Frith of Sherwood Park; and Jan Frith of Twin Butte, Alberta; as well as many cousins, and a large extended family. Deanie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Tom in 2009; her son, Terry in 2014; her parents, Raymond and Edna Frith; two brothers, Rodney and Larry Frith; and her sister-in-law, Joan Frith.

With respect for Deanie's wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer. She will be laid to rest at a later date at the family farm where it all began. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Deanie's Memory may be made directly to the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre - Administration, Box 440, Rimbey, Alberta T0C 2J0.
