Well small town fashions aren’t always as hip as the city dwellers and high end fashionistas, but I would love to give you a “what’s what” in trends and styles.
Fall is always the favorite season. We love our warm cozy cuddly sweaters. We love vests, jackets, and the rich tones! It has never changed ever! We will always love these amazing pieces.
Last year the big trend was the shackets, and we are still seeing those trends for fall ‘23. If shacket or coatigan is a new word for you, it is just the blended idea of a shirt and jacket or a coat and cardigan. Plaids in these Shackets were very big last year, and while the trends of shackets is still here, we are seeing oversized shackets in more plain colors and some more dressy styles.
So yes, oversized is the look of many items, cardigans, jackets and denim jackets. This look I definitely see – whether it is a shacket, or jacket, or dress coat, the look is big!
Blazers this year have finally come back. Wow, and hasn’t it been a while. People wear them, and heading back to office, as well as throwing band tees and denim with them – very popular and all over the spectrum on how dressy you want it to be.
Fringes have come back, and we are seeing them especially on handbags and purses.
Western looks is also as hot as can be. I see hats in every store, wide brims and western looks. And to be clear they are in the cities everywhere, not just at the rodeos. This is clearly a trend that will be sticking around for a while, and while some people are not used to wearing hats again, it is a nice change and welcomed look to many!
The biggest trend that I see out there is … bottoms. Our pants are getting wider legged, flared, and that look is expanding quickly, and throughout many age groups. I think overall you will see skinnies still kick around for a while, as they have been a staple for a long time. Not everyone will jump onto this look, but it is definitely a must have to think about putting into your wardrobe at some point over the next while. Most of the younger generation is doing high rise, with old school denim that doesn’t have a lot of stretch to it, with a wide leg. Also look for CARGO everything!
With the wide legs, comes the change of footwear. Skinnies brought us tall boots. Wide legs are bringing us back to strong ankle styled boots still, and as the style keeps continuing, we will see more loafers and shoes for fall.
Vests – yes ladies – two styles completely different. Vests have also made a huge comeback – wait did they ever leave? We all love them – right ? Well, this year there are two trends, long vests, generally with zippers on the sides, and the short ones are very short !
What I have noticed overall is things are definitely changing, and dressy seems to be coming back. Bling it up, wear your jewelry, accessorize your outfits, find an amazing hat that suits your taste. Wear it all and enjoy those baggy styles once again on the bottom.
