Students visit fire hall and RCMP Detachment

Friday, May 2 proved to be a big day for the Kindergarten and Grade 1 kids from the Rimbey Christian School. First, they got to tour the fire hall where they checked out all the cool equipment and even got to give the siren a go. If that wasn’t enough, they later walked over to the RCMP Detachment and ended up spending some time in the klink, which they also thought was pretty cool. Assisting them on their tour was Firefighter Paul Payson and RCMP Officer Ted Munro.

Bentley-area violinist making huge strides in pursuit of musical career

Another area student is making a bit of an impact in the musical field including a recent award winning performance at the Kiwanis Music Festival in Red Deer. Heidi Baumbach, who lives with her parents Trent and Karen on a farm north of Bentley, first picked up a violin at the age of five, now 16 turning 17, she finds herself well into an undergraduate, degree-level program.

Local drama class entertains public with two-performance Dessert Theatre

Under the direction of Drama Teacher Shauna Murdoch, the students of the Rimbey Junior/Senior high School took to the stage last Thursday to perform for the public as part of a Dessert Theatre. The students performed two plays, one of which recently won them an award at a competition in Ponoka.

A large crowd was on hand last Wednesday evening as the Rimbey Co-op held their annual general meeting at the Seniors Drop-In Centre. After a delicious meal, it was down to business for the Co-op with the call to order, approval of quorum, election of a chairperson and approval of the meeting’s agenda, the Board of Directors, General Manager’s and audited financial statement were all read to the membership.

Telus World of Science tour makes a stop at Rimbey Elementary School

There was plenty of ooohs and aaahs last week at the Rimbey Elementary School as they welcomed the Telus World of Science and as an added bonus, the students had the opportunity to get some hands-on learning about science. Featuring topics such as aerodynamics and flight, classroom chemistry, boats and buoyancy and lights and shadows, to name a few, the students were both entertained and taught.
