Round 2 of an on-going dispute between the electrical industry and the Lavesta Group over proposed power lines running through Rimbey was held last Monday at the Community Centre, however unlike Round 1 held approximately one year ago, this was a much-less confrontational affair.

Despite less than ideal conditions, hundreds of spectators lined 50th Avenue on Saturday morning for the annual Rimbey Rodeo Parade. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion (centre) were just one of many floats in the parade that experienced rain and gusty winds, however the weather made a timely turn for the better.

Remember back in the day when the teachers told you not to bring your pets to school? Well things certainly have changed – at least for one day at one particular school. Pictured above is Daniel Reitsma who, in addition to being a teacher at Rimbey’s West Country Outreach School, also raises deer at his family farm. But after one of his adult females died during the delivery of two fawns, the Reitsma’s stepped in and began bottle feeding one of the twins, which is also pictured above.

With the exception of the Grade 6 classes who were on a camping trip, the entire student body of the Rimbey Christian School hit the road for a marathon walk that took them through the downtown area, to the soccer fields on the southwestern outskirts of the community, and back again. The walk was held to bring awareness to the Breath of Hope campaign in conjunction with The Lung Association.

Rimbey RCMP officer to perform in Halifax International Tattoo

A Rimbey RCMP officer will be participating in a very prestigious event in Halifax later this summer. Constable Ted Munro is one of only two RCMP members from Alberta who will be performing in the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo from July 1 to 8. Munro will be joining 24 other members of the force as part of the RCMP’s Ceremonial Drill Team.
