The Rimbey and District Horticultural Society held their annual show this past weekend at the Drop In Centre which featured a wide variety of plants and flowers, photography, thread arts, crafts and culinary delights. The show may be the last of its kind however as the Society is in desperate need for new members. For more on that, see next week’s Rimbey Review.

Residents of Rimbey who are waiting for the remainder of the community’s main street to be paved could be waiting for quite a while. While paving crews from Alberta Transportation were in the town last week, the work they completed was only two small patching jobs amounting to somewhere between 50 and 100 metres.

It’s common knowledge all around the globe that Canada is hockey country 24/7, so its no shock to see a game of our favourite sport break out at any time, even in the middle of a sunny summer day. Actually, the game above was just one of the many activities of Kidztown, a show aimed at young children with a spiritual message that was held last Thursday at Pas-Ka-Poo Park and sponsored by the Rimbey Church of the Nazarene.

It was a weekend in heaven for racing fans in Rimbey last weekend as the Central Alberta Raceway hosted the NPP Hobby/Truck/Open Stock races on Saturday followed by the Outlaw/Wissota Stock races on Sunday. Pictured above, while one group awaits their turn on the track, another, less-fortunate driver who hit the wall, needed a bit of assistance from a tow truck to get off the track (inset).

Hundreds in attendance raise thousands for Gull Lake Golf Course Scholarship Fund

The numbers have been crunched and while there are still cheques and donations rolling in, a recent pro-am golf event held at Gull Lake Golf Course will go a long way in ensuring some young area golfers will have the opportunity to further their educations.
