The Bluffton and District Chamber of Commerce was the recipient of 2007 Chamber of the Year award at a ceremony held on Saturday, May 24 at Fort Saskatchewan. The Bluffton group won the award in the category for Chambers with up to 50 members.

With the exception of the Grade 6 classes who were on a camping trip, the entire student body of the Rimbey Christian School hit the road for a marathon walk that took them through the downtown area, to the soccer fields on the southwestern outskirts of the community, and back again. The walk was held to bring awareness to the Breath of Hope campaign in conjunction with The Lung Association.

A Rimbey RCMP officer will be participating in a very prestigious event in Halifax later this summer. Constable Ted Munro is one of only two RCMP members from Alberta who will be performing in the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo from July 1 to 8. Munro will be joining 24 other members of the force as part of the RCMP’s Ceremonial Drill Team.

Local 4-H beef and sheep members held two days of showing before their upcoming sale. On May 11, the Bluffton, Winfield and Rimbey 4-H clubs had their individual club Achievement Day.

It’s not very often that the leader of a provincial political party visits Bluffton - and even less if they’re not campaigning, but that’s exactly what happened on Friday, May 2 when Liberal Leader Kevin Taft paid a visit to the community as part of the Read and Learn Program.
